EHL Defenseman Jim Franklin Commits to NIU
Offensive Defenseman Jim Franklin from the Connecticut Roughriders (EHL) has committed to play for NIU starting in the 2023-24 season!
Franklin is a native of Wildwood, MO who grew up playing in the St. Louis AAA Blues program developing his skillset before originally committing to Grand Canyon University after Midget hockey in 2020. With the COVID pandemic and other factors he decided to play Junior hockey and ended up playing 2 years in the EHL (ProTec Ducks/CT Roughriders) amassing 75 Games Played and collecting 12 Points off 2 Goals and 10 Assists.
Franklin's great vision, hockey IQ, and skating ability make him an offensive threat when he's on the ice and that style of play is how NIU projects to play this coming season. A perfect fit for NIU's style of play and culture we look forward to seeing Franklin create sparks from the Blueline the next 4 years. Go Huskies!
